Day 1, Friday: Perth – Pemberton (D)

Margaret RiverWe head off south and reach the holiday destinations of Mandurah and Australind which is home to the smallest church in Western Australia. During our drive south, kangaroos can often be seen. We continue to Bunbury und Busselton and then to Sugarloaf Rock in Cape Leeuwin National Park and to the magnificent Canal Rocks; we then have time to stop at one of the famous wineries in the South West to sample the beautiful wines of Western Australia around Margaret River. We drive through the Boronup Karri Forest to Pemberton.

Day 2, Saturday: Pemberton – Walpole – Albany (B,D)

Tree Top WalkWe will be visiting the heart of the forests of Pemberton. The huge Karri trees, the third largest in the world, accompany you the whole day. If you are keen and brave enough you have the opportunity to climb the fire lookout, a 70m tall Karri tree, there are hundreds of step to climb, but the view from up there is well worth the effort. You will enjoy a most stunning extensive round view from Mount Chudalup(enormous Granite bolder). From there we will drive to Windy Harbour und Salmon Beach to the d'Entrecasteaux National Park with its rugged coastline. We will reach Mandalay Beach, where you will have a fantastic view over the beach and the ocean. A further highlight of the area is the Tree Top Walk and the giant Tingle trees in the Ancient Empire in the Valley of the Giants. The trees can grow up to 18m in circumference and can reach 400 years of age. We may enjoy the view from a height of up to 40m and among the tree tops on a 600m round walk (highly recommended). After this adventure we continue our trip to William Bay National Park and its Elephant Rocks.

Day 3, Sunday: Albany – Perth (B)

Natural BridgeOn this day we explore the historical town of Albany, which was established in 1826. Albany's natural harbour made it a thriving whaling port. Today Albany has still some old colonial buildings and Stirling Terrace is noted for its Victorian shopfronts. We head towards Torndirrup National Park, situated on a stunning stretch of coastline that includes The Gap and Natural Bridge. Small bays invite the wary traveller to cool off and swim. Further along the way we will see the new wind turbines which provide most of the power for the city of Albany. We then head back to Perth.

You should bring along: a small soft bag (please leave your suitcase at the hotel), comfortable shoes, shorts and t-shirts for during the day and long pants and a jumper for the evenings (usual the temperature is lower down south as in Perth), a hat, sunscream, bath towel and swimwear.

Good to know: Wildflowers are best in October and early November
