Perth – Exmouth – Karijini NP – Mount Augustus – Perth

Day 1: Perth - Cervantes (PL,D)
After
departing Perth we head for the sand dunes in Lancelin
followed by a visit to the Nambung National Park with its famous Pinnacles.
These are more than 10,000 up to 5 m high limestone formations.

Day 2: Cervantes - Kalbarri (B,PL,D)
Via
Mount Lesueur with its famous flora to Port Gregory with its Pink Lake, whose
beta-karotine is farmed for the food industry. Later we visit the coastal lookouts
like Natural Bridge, Castle Cove and Red Bluff.

Day 3: Kalbarri - Monkey Mia (B,PL,D)
We
visit Kalbarri NP mit Nature's Window, Z-Bend und Hawks Head Lookouts. On our
way to Monkey Mia we stop at the Shell Beach, where billions and billions of
coquina shells form a unique shell beach . At the shell quarry we see how in
the old days, people were cutting the shell blocks used for buildings and we
also visit the Stromatolites (living fossils) and
the fishing town of Denham.

Day 4: Monkey Mia - Coral Bay (B,PL,D)
In
the morning we wait for the Bottlenose Dolphins
which usually visit the beach each morning. After a short lecture by the ranger,
we continue on to Coral Bay. At the Ningaloo Reef we are able to snorkel from
the beach to discover an abundance of marine life.

Day 5: Coral Bay (B,PL,D)
Today
we spend the day in Coral Bay, your chance to snorkel, dive or book an excursion
by boat. At Ningaloo Reef there are many Whales, Dolphins, Dugongs, Manta Rays.
It is 260km long(the reef is pristine and still virtually untainted)and offers
more than 220 different species of corals. April/May is the best season for
Whale Sharks.

Day 6: Coral Bay - Exmouth (B,PL,D)
Now
we travel to the Cape Range National Park with its spectacular gorges and sandy
beaches. Many of the bays are ideal for snorkelling and diving. We might be
lucky enough to spot some rock wallbys around Yardie Creek

Day 7: Exmouth (B,PL,D)
One
more day to be spent at the Marine Park and a chance to visit Shothole Canyon
and Charles Knife Road.

Day 8: Exmouth - Tom Price (B,PL,D)
Tom
Price (747 m) is the highest town in Western Australia. In 1962 iron ore was
discovered at here. Today it is transported by rail to Dampier from where it
is distributed. The Mine is open cut and can be
visited. Mount Nameless at 1128m is the highest mountain accessible by car offering
wonderful panoramic views.

Day 9: Karijini National Park (B,PL,D)
Tom
Price is our gateway to the Karijini National Park
with its many gorges, mountains, creeks, plateaus, one of the most beautiful
national parks in Western Australia.
There is Hamersley Gorge with its many coloured rock formations and tranquil
pools. Hancock Gorge which has access via a ladder, is definitely worth the
climb which then reveals aged marbled walls and rock pools, then off to Weano
Gorge and Handrail Pool for a refreshing bath. Joffre Falls is only a short
stroll from the car park and offers a beautiful view to the pool. Junction Pool
Lookout offers an impressive view over several steep gorges.

Day 10: Karijini National Park (B,PL,D)
One
more day to be spent in the Karijini Park. Circular Pool
can be viewed from the car park or if you are fit enough you can walk down for
a refreshing bath. From Dales Gorges we are hiking to Forrtescue Falls and have
another chance for a swim.

Day 11: Tom Price - Mount Augustus (B,PL,D)
Our
todays goal is Mount Augustus which can be reached via
274km of good Gravel Road and 135km of Track. We
watch the sunset at Emu Point

Day 12: Mount Augustus (B,PL,D)
Mount
Augustus is 8km long und 3km wide, 730m high and three times as old as
Ayers Rock (Uluru). It has a lot of engravings. At sunrise or sunset the colours
can change from minute to minute.

Day 13: Cue - Perth (B,PL)
On
our way back to Perth we visit Walga Rock, 48 km
west of Cue. It is approx 2 km long with a cave containing Aboriginal Paintings
including one believed to depict Dutch ships visiting WA coast in 17th century.
